Finder - Pioneers of the Modern Step Relay
Posted on: 29/09/2021, 08:28
Having developed the modern step relay a few years previous, Piero Giordanino founded the company Finder S.p.A. in Italy in 1954. Now a global company, they produce various types of electromechanical and electronic devices, manufactured solely in Europe to the highest quality approvals, for the residential, commercial and industrial markets.
With numerous series in the range, Finder provide a comprehensive choice of relays and sockets for use in industrial control panels for purposes such as monitoring power, motor control and various automation applications.
Just a few examples of the extensive ranges are;
Industrial Relays
Simply put, an industrial relay comprises of two separate circuits working in conjunction with each other to open and close a switch.
46 Series Miniature Industrial Relays, 8 – 16A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Control panels
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Automation of blinds, grilles and shutters
- Hoists and cranes
- Elevators and lifts
- Bottling plants
- Shipyards
- Road /tunnel lighting
Finder 46 Series Relays, featuring a lockable test button and mechanical indicator, are available in 1 and 2 pole versions, PCB (Printed Circuit Board) mounting or with options for socket mounting (with their 96 Series Bases and Accessories) or with direct connection via Faston connectors.
General Purpose Relays
General purpose relays are an excellent choice for use in general switchboard installations, OEM machinery, industrial automation panels and are ideal for auxiliary and interfacing applications.
55 Series Miniature General Purpose Relays, 7 – 10A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Control and management of electric power
- Control panels
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Circuit breakers and switches
- Automation of blinds, grilles and shutters
- Hoists and cranes
- Bottling plants
- Shipyard
- Road /tunnel lighting
These 55 Series general purpose relays feature a lockable test button and mechanical indicator in the 2 and 4 pole versions with Cadmium Free contacts. They come in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) format or again they are able to become Plug-in (Socket Mounting) when used in conjunction with the 94 Series range of sockets. Using the 94 series sockets also allows the use of a variety of plug in options using the 99 Series modules; these include LED indicators to suppression modules. Jumper bars can also be fitted to the bases to help with wiring time.
60 Series General Purpose Octal Relays, 6 – 10A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Shipyards
- Hoists and cranes
- Road / Tunnel lighting
- Burners, boilers and furnaces
- Wood-processing machines
- Control panels
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Control systems
With 2 or 3 pole changeover contacts, the 60 Series plug-in general purpose octal relays come in 8 or 11 pin versions with Cadmium Free contacts.
Power Relays
Power relays are devices that use an electromagnet to open or close a circuit when the input (coil) is correctly excited. They provide a high level of isolation between the control signal (coil) and the output (contacts) – typically with a rated impulse voltage of 4 or 6kV.
56 Series Miniature Power Relays, 12A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Industrial furnaces and ovens
- Control panels
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Control and management of electric power
- Industrial motors
- Carousel warehouses
- Vending machines
- Circuit breakers and switches
The Plug-in Power Relays in the 56 Series range, are able to switch up to 12 amps, are available in 2 or 4 pole versions and have a lockable test button and mechanical indicator. Accessories such as the 96 Series sockets also allows the use of a variety of plug in options using the 99 Series modules; these include LED indicators to suppression modules. Jumper bars can also be fitted to the bases to help with wiring time, an ideal solution for switching high currents in such a compact size.
62 Series Power Relays, 16A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Road / Tunnel Lighting
- Industrial furnaces and ovens
- Burners, boilers and furnaces
- Control panels
- Control and management of electric power
- Punches, cleaners, planers and sanders
- Circuit breakers and switches
- Industrial motors
Featuring PCB, Plug-in or Flange mount options with Faston connection these 62 Series power relays have reinforced insulation between coil and contacts according to EN 60335-1, with 6mm clearance and 8mm creepage distance. With 2 or 3 changeover versions they come with LED, mechanical indicator and test button options.
65 Series Power Relays, 20 - 30A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Infrared and microwave ovens
- Industrial washing machines
- Burners, boilers and furnaces
- Jacuzzis and hot tubs
- Power generators
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Back-up generators
- Industrial motors
In PCB or Flange mount (Faston connection) versions the 65 Series power relays are great for applications with particularly heavy duty loads.
PCB Relays
A PCB (Printed Circuit Board) relay works via a coil which when power is applied creates a magnetic field causing an armature to move to allow contacts to open or close, often used when faster switching of loads is required.
40 Series Miniature PCB Relays, 8 – 10 – 12 – 16A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Medical and dentistry
- Control panels
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Toys
- Automation for blinds, grilles and shutters
- Door and gate openers
- Electronic circuit boards
- Vending machines
These 40 Series, 5mm pinning relays in 1 and 2 pole versions are for direct PCB mounting or socket mounting using the 95 Series of DIN rail mounting bases.
Relay Interface Modules
A solid state relay (SSR) is an electronic switching device that switches on or off when an external voltage (AC or DC) is applied across its control terminals. It serves the same function as an electromechanical relay but has no moving parts. A great solution for high demanding applications where fast constant switching on and off is required.
38 Series Relay Interface Modules, 0.1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 – 8 – 16A
Ideal for applications such as:
- Bottling plants
- Packaging machines
- Traffic light controls
- Vending machines
- Programmable controllers
- Panels for electrical distribution
- Labelling machines
These 38 Series slimline interface relays come in a 6.2mm wide package for the 1 pole versions and a 14mm wide package for the 2 pole versions with integral coil indication and protection circuit.
