Applications
Controlling Pumps
- Provides a soft pipe fill during start and eliminates water hammering during stop.
- Reduces the risk of clogged pumps due to ABB’s feature to reverse the direction of the flow and start again with kick-start.
- Underload protection feature to stop the pump to avoid the scenario of pumps running dry and damaging the motor.
Controlling Fans
- Increasing the voltage gradually during start, the softstarter will reduce the current and remove the inrush peak. There is the ability to adjust the settings to fit almost any starting condition, from unloaded to fully loaded.
- ABB’s dynamic brake feature, allows the stopping time of the fan to be reduced, improving safety when the load has a high moment of inertia and makes fan operation easier for the operator.
- Keeps an idle fan still using the stand still brake, preventing unwanted airflow and improving the control of the system without the need for an external mechanical brake.
