Corporate Responsibility at TLA / 2014

TLA take our corporate responsibility very seriously and are commited to supporting charities both local and nationwide.

There are so many extremely worthy charities and of course we can't support them all, but supporting ones that affect our staff and friends is our aim and we sincerely hope that every donation makes a real difference to peoples' lives.

Fibromyalgia association collage

FMA UK, the Fibromyalgia association.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe. It may be worse at some times than at others. It may also change location and is usually most severe in parts of the body that are used most.

Fibromyalgia is a common illness. In fact, it is more common than rheumatoid arthritis and can even be more painful. TLA hopes a small donation will help support this charity and the work it does in raising awareness about this difficult condition.

For more information about Fibromyalgia, please click to visit the FMA UK website. There are donations links on the right hand side of the page.

RNLI & Watersafe UK collage

RNLI & Watersafe UK

We were so busy we missed May. Two charities for June it is then!

Watersafe UK Search & Rescue Team is a voluntary search & rescue organisation operating within the East Midlands region. Providing support to the Fire Service & Derbyshire Police in a range of situations with skills in search & rescue, water & flood rescue, rope rescue and advanced medical care.
In June, ten members of the team are attempting to circumnavigate the entire coast of Britain- all two thousand miles- in a rigid inflatable boat in order to raise funds to keep this much needed service running.

TLA appreciate the hard and often dangerous work our emergency services do each and every day. We are proud to make a donation to this very admirable attempt.

Meningitis Now collage

Meningitis Now

For April, we have made a donation to Paul Brown's Meningitis Now fundrasing effort.

In Paul's words: "Hi, I'm Paul and my wife is Suzanne. She has been raising funds for meningitis for some years now. This charity is close to our hearts because our Son, Declan became very ill at 7 weeks old. Our local GP became very suspicious and sent us straight to hospital. His suspicions were proved correct when Declan was diognosed with the bacterial form of the disease, meningococcal meningitis. We spent the next 2 weeks in Derby Children's hospital. Fortunately with the help and care of the staff, Declan made a full recovery with very few side effects. Now he is a healthy, although sometimes irritating, 15 year old. We wouldn't have it any other way. The photo shows him on his 14th birthday.

I've been asked if I'd help this year by doing something different for charity. So here it is, a Parachute Jump.

It will be held at; Redlands Airfield, Wanborough, Swindon. SN4 0AA. On the 12th July 2014.

"Please donate what you can, every penny and pound helps save lives. We were lucky some might say but during that time in 1998 we didn't feel lucky. The help is out there but it can't carry on without someone's help your help. We would be so grateful if you would donate something, thanks, Paul and Suzanne"
